Hallstatt, Austria

Quando comecei a me dedicar a fotografia, fiz um perfil de fotógrafo para separar os posts de fotografia de posts pessoais. Desde então, comecei a seguir muitos perfis de fotógrafos e de fotografia de paisagem em geral, e sempre via fotos dessa pequena e charmosa vila. E ela acabou indo para minha lista de lugares para conhecer.

Hallstatt fica localizada na Áustria, a cerca de 1h15 de Salzburg. Espremida entre o lago Hallstätter See e uma cadeia de montanhas íngremes, cria um cenário único com suas pequenas casas na encosta e as montanhas cobertas de neve!

Hallstatt possui uma parte histórica importante e peculiar: abriga a mina de sal mais antiga do mundo. Dizem que o vilarejo existe justamente por causa dessa mina, que data cerca de 2.000 antes de Cristo. Além disso, outra curiosidade dos tempos modernos, é que há boatos que a charmosa vila serviu de inspiração para a criação de Arendelle, do filme Frozen.

Como não poderia deixar de ser, a região de Hallstatt se tornou patrimônio mundial da UNESCO, em 1997. O vilarejo, que tem pouco menos de 800 habitantes, chega a receber até 10 mil turistas por dia, deixando essa vila pacata bem movimentada durante o dia e criando um pouco de atrito com os moradores locais. Portanto, é importante sempre respeitar os espaços dos moradores locais.

Como chegar…

Trem
De trem é relativamente fácil, tanto de Salzburg como de Vienna. Basta pegar o Austrian National OEBB trainpara a estação de trem de Attnang-Puchheim (50 min de Salzburg e 135 min de Vienna), em seguida pegar o trem local para Hallstatt Bhanhof (90 min). A estação fica do outro lado do lago, o que te obriga a pegar um ferryboat (2,40 euros) até a vila.

O trem de Salzburg para Hallstatt custa entre 15,00 e 28,00 euros por trecho, dependendo da opção que você seleciona. O de Vienna para Hallstatt custa entre 19,00 a 55,7- dependendo da seleção.

Ônibus
A partir de Salzburg ir de ônibus é a opção mais rápida (caso você não tenha um carro alugado) e mais barata. A viagem total custa 15,00 euros até Hallstatt, e você paga direto para os motoristas, em dinheiro. O primeiro trecho, de Salzburg para Bad ISchl, é feito com o ônibus 150 (90 min). Chegando em Bad Ishl, pegar o ônibus 542para Hallstatt Gosaumühle (20 min). Chegando em Hallstatt Gosaumühle, o próximo trecho é feito com o ônibus local 543 para Hallstatt Lhan (10 min), é uma troca rápida, os ônibus param um do lado do outro. Então, depois de 10 min andando em volta do lago, você chegará no ponto principal da vila de Hallstatt.

Carro
A viagem de carro de Salzburg para Hallstatt dura cerca de 1h15, e de Vienna para Hallstatt cerca de 3h30. Em Hallstatt há três estacionamentos públicos principais e bem sinalizados quando você entra na vila (P1, P2 e P3). Lembrem que esses estacionamentos são pagos.

Onde ficar…

Sendo um vilarejo pequeno, os turistas vão à Hallstatt geralmente para passar o dia. Porém, na minha opinião, passar uma noite lá é extremamente válido, pois você consegue desfrutar das particularidades do lugar com muito mais calma. À noite, a vila que é agitada durante o dia incorpora a sua essência de tranquilidade. Pensando na fotografia, as luzes do entardecer e amanhecer dão um toque especial, e só será possível obter essas luzes se você dormir lá.

Na vila há muitos pequenos hotéis e apartamentos para hospedagem. Acabei reservando um apartamento no Hallstatt Lakeside, gostei bastante, bem limpo, confortável e com uma boa localização.

O que levar…

Eu estive lá durante o inverno, portanto, fui com roupas apropriadas para o frio. Aconselho ir com um calçado confortável pois você faz tudo a pé na vila.

Para os fotógrafos, não esqueça a sua câmera e as lentes que você mais gosta. Eu levei uma 24-70mm e a 70-300mm, e usei as duas. Se você puder levar somente uma lente , escolha a mais overall que você tiver. Não esqueça do tripé e de um filtro ND para as longas exposições.

Não se preocupe em levar drone, o lugar é no fly zone e há diversas placas pela vila inteira dizendo que é proibido subir drones.

O que fazer…

Se perder nas pequenas ruas e caminhos da vila é a melhor pedida. Para tirar a famosa foto da igreja com as montanhas ao fundo, saindo da estação de ônibus Hallstatt Lhan, basta seguir em direção à Marktplatz, onde se localiza a igreja. Passe por ela e continue andando por mais uns 300 metros e pronto! Aí é só ver a melhor composição e fotografar e curtir a paisagem.

Quando estiver no Marktplatz, vale a pena procurar por uma escadaria. Ela é o caminho para uma trilha linda, feita em aproximadamente 50 minutos, passando pela cachoeira que você consegue ver da Marktplatz e te levando até o mirante Skywalk e a mina de sal. Outra opção para chegar lá em cima é pelo funicular, que demora menos de 5 minutos e custa 16,00 euros (ida e a volta). Se quiser conhecer a mina de sal é necessário comprar ingresso.

Na região da Marktplatz há diversos comércios: desde restaurantes, lojas de souvernirs até equipamentos de alpinismo. Atenção ao horário, pois como a maioria dos turistas só passam o dia, o comercio fecha cedo.

Fotografia…

A vila é muito charmosa e facilita demais para as fotos ficarem boas! Portanto, o desafio é encontrar diferentes perspectivas e composições para ir além do óbvio. Ou seja, faça as fotos óbvias, elas serão lindas, mas tente outras perspectivas e composições inusitadas, porque como você, mais 10 mil pessoas passam todos os dias lá e farão as mesmas fotos, dos mesmos lugares.

Hallstatt – Austria

When I started to dedicate myself to photography, I made a photographer profile to separate photography posts from personal posts. Since then, I started to follow many profiles of photographers and landscape photography in general, and I always saw pictures of this small and charming village. And It ended up going to my places to go list.

Hallstatt is located in Austria, about 1h15 from Salzburg. Squeezed between Lake Hallstätter See and a steep mountain range, it creates a unique setting with its small hillside houses and snow-capped mountains!

Hallstatt has an important and peculiar historical part: it houses the oldest salt mine in the world. They say the village exists precisely because of this mine, which dates back to around 2,000 BC. In addition, another curiosity of modern times is that there are rumors that the charming village served as inspiration for the creation of Arendelle, from the movie Frozen.

As it could not be otherwise, the Hallstatt region became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. The village, which has just under 800 inhabitants, can receive up to 10,000 tourists a day, leaving this quiet village very busy during the day and creating a little friction with the locals. Therefore, it is important to always respect the spaces of local residents.

How to get there…

Train
By train it is relatively easy, both from Salzburg and Vienna. Just take the Austrian National OEBB train to the Attnang-Puchheim train station (50 min from Salzburg and 135 min from Vienna), then take the local train to Hallstatt Bhanhof (90 min). The station is on the other side of the lake, which forces you to take a ferryboat (2.40 euros) to the village.

The train from Salzburg to Hallstatt costs between 15.00 and 28.00 euros each way, depending on the option you select. Vienna to Hallstatt costs between 19.00 to 55.7- depending on the selection.

Bus
From Salzburg, taking the bus is the quickest (if you don’t have a rental car) and the cheapest option. The total trip costs 15.00 euros to Hallstatt, and you pay direct to the drivers, in cash. The first stretch, from Salzburg to Bad ISchl, is done by bus 150 (90 min). Arriving in Bad Ishl, take bus 542 to Hallstatt Gosaumühle (20 min). Arriving at Hallstatt Gosaumühle, the next section is made with the local bus 543 to Hallstatt Lhan (10 min), it is a quick change, the buses stop next to each other. Then, after 10 min going around the lake, you will arrive at the main bus stop of the village of Hallstatt.

Car
The drive from Salzburg to Hallstatt takes about 1h15, and from Vienna to Hallstatt about 3h30. In Hallstatt, there are three main public car parks. They are well signposted when you enter the village (P1, P2 and P3). Remember that these parking lots are paid.

Where to stay…

Being a small village, tourists usually go to Hallstatt to spend the day. However, in my opinion, spending a night is extremely valid, because you can enjoy the particularities of the place much more calmly. At night, the village that is busy during the day incorporates its essence of tranquility. Thinking about the photograph, the evening and dawn lights add a special touch, and you can only get those lights if you sleep there.

In the village, there are many small hotels and apartments for lodging. I ended up booking an apartment at the Hallstatt Lakeside, I really liked it, very clean, comfortable and with a good location.

What to take…

I was there during the winter, so I went with clothes appropriate for the cold. I advise you to go with comfortable shoes because you do everything on foot in the village.

For photographers, don’t forget your camera and the lenses you like most. I took a 24-70mm and a 70-300mm, and used both. If you can only take one lens, choose the most overall you have. Don’t forget the tripod and an ND filter for long exposures.

Don’t worry about taking a drone, the place is in a no fly zone and there are several signs throughout the village saying that it is prohibited to fly drones.

What to do…

Getting lost in the small streets and paths of the village is the best option. To take the famous photo of the church with the mountains in the background, leaving the Hallstatt Lhan bus station, just head towards Marktplatz, where the church is located. Go through it and continue walking for another 300 meters and that’s it! Then just see the best composition and photograph and enjoy the landscape.

When you are at the Marktplatz, it is worth looking for a staircase. It is the path to a beautiful trail, made in approximately 50 minutes, passing the waterfall that you can see from Marktplatz and taking you to the Skywalk viewpoint and the salt mine. Another option to get up there is by the funicular, which takes less than 5 minutes and costs 16.00 euros (round trip). If you want to go in the salt mine you need to buy a ticket.

In the Marktplatz region there are several shops: from restaurants, souvenir shops to climbing equipment shops. Pay attention to the time, because as most tourists only spend the day, the shops close early.

Photography…

The village is very charming and makes it easy for the photos to look good! Therefore, the challenge is to find different perspectives and compositions to go beyond the obvious. In other words, make the obvious photos, they will be beautiful, but try other perspectives and unusual compositions, because like you, 10,000 more people that visit there every day will take the same photos, from the same places.
