Punta del Diablo, Uruguay

Quando comecei a pesquisar lugares para ir pensando em minha viagem para o Uruguai, o balneário de Punta del Diablo chamou a minha atenção como um destino alternativo a Punta del Este.
Acertei na mosca, tudo que Punta del Este tem de luxo e glamour, Punta de Diablo tem de simplicidade, energia, beleza e ritmo mais lento. Esse pequeno balneário está localizado no litoral norte do Uruguai, à 298km de Montevidéu e a 43km de Chuí no Brasil e tem uma população fixa de aproximadamente 823 habitantes, em sua maioria de pescadores e artesões.
Oque levar…
Eu viajei no começo de novembro, não estava frio, mas também não estava quente. As temperaturas variaram entre 15° e 26° graus Celsius, na média. Uma coisa para levar em 
consideração é que lá venta muito e isso faz a sensação térmica ser mais baixa principalmente durante a noite, portanto levar algum tipo de corta vento é uma boa.
Duas coisas que eu senti falta e gostaria de levar em uma próxima viagem de carro seria a minha prancha de surf (dá para alugar lá) e da minha mountain bike.
Sobre equipamentos de fotografia, o que não pode faltar é a câmera com uma lente overall, como uma 24-70mm ou 18-55mm, dependendo do tipo de câmera que você tenha e uma pequena tele para capturar detalhes de paisagem. Para quem tem, definitivamente vale a pena levar um filtro ND, um tripé e um controle remoto para capturar longas exposições durante o dia. As praias são cheias de pedras e é um prato cheio para esse tipo de fotografia.
Se você tem intenção de surfar, não esqueça o wetsuit e parafinas de água fria e, lógico, sua prancha. Outra opção é alugar pranchas para aulas ou surfistas mais experientes. Recomendo o Rodrigo(+598 99 677 599), um surfista local que dá aulas de surf e aluga pranchas.
Eu achei o Uruguai um país com um custo de vida caro. Mesmo sendo um lugar mais acessível que Punta del Este ou Montevidéu, fazer mercado em Punta del Diablo é bem mais caro do que fazer mercado em no Brasil, então se você está vindo de carro do Brasil é uma boa aproveitar e trazer boa parte das compras de mercado do Brasil.
Começando…
Em Montevidéu fui à rodoviária Tres Cruces (www.trescruces.com.uy) e peguei o ônibus da companhia Rutas del Sol, há pelo menos outras duas companhias que fazem essa viagem, COT e CYNSA. A passagem custou 664 pesos o trecho, e a viagem durou por volta de 5h30. Se você vem de Chuy a passagem custa por volta de 107 pesos.
O Rutas del Sol parece um ônibus de linha e a vantagem é que ele entra dentro de Punta del Diablo e para em um ponto de ônibus no centro, perto da Playa de la Viuda e Pescadores. O ônibus da empresa COT faz o percurso em 4h30, porém ele só para no terminal de ônibus que da mais ou menos uns 3km da praia. Há taxi no balneário (taxi y remis de Punta – +598 99 876 300)
O que fazer…
Como fui na primeira semana de novembro e durante a semana a vila estava bem vazia, vários restaurantes estavam fechados ou realizando pequenas reformas para a temporada que estava chegando. Nessa época não havia nada para fazer a noite, mas na temporada o lugar deve ser bem agitado.
Como gosto de lugares mais tranquilos para mim estava ótimo. As praias estavam sempre vazias, e isso me permitia uma melhor conexão com a natureza e a energia do lugar. Não deixem de ver o por do sol na Playa de la Viuda e de ir até a Playa Grande, ela é um pouco distante da vila, mas vale a pena tanto o caminho para chegar até ela como a praia em si.
Para quem surfa, se o vento permitir, vai encontrar boas ondas sem crowd nas praias del Rivero, de la Viuda e Grande. Se tiver de carro, vale a pena fazer um check nas 4 praias do Parque Nacional de Santa Teresa. O parque fica mais ou menos 10km ao norte de Punta del Diablo e conta com uma área de 3000 hectares, uma área de camping e mais de 60km de trilhas, além da fortaleza de Santa Teresa que é o cartão postal do parque.
Fotografia…
Os fotógrafos que gostam de longa exposição vão se divertir, o caminho para a Playa Grande tem várias formações rochosas e algumas pequenas praias cercadas por predas, o lugar é bem bonito e permite criar vários tipos de composições.
O nascer do sol na Playa del Rivero é lindo, da para por de primeiro plano o final das dunas rendendo uma textura legal da areia com o a luz do amanhecer. Já o por do sol da para tirar de qualquer praia mas o lugar que achei mais legal foi do canto esquerdo rochoso da Playa de la Viuda, pega as rochas de primeiro plano, o mar e depois as dunas ao fundo.
Onde ficar…
Punta del Diablo conta com inúmeras acomodações para todos os gostos, desde hotéis a pousadas, hostels e campings. Eu fiquei na pousada Villa Lavanda que está localizada a mais ou menos a 100m da Playa del Rivero. É uma pousada bem charmosa, tem wifi, ar condicionado… na época saiu 195 reais por noite no quarto duplo com café da manhã incluso.
Dicas importantes…
– Não há casa de câmbio em Punta del Diablo, portanto venham com dinheiro trocado.
– Vale a pena pagar com cartão nos restaurantes, é descontado aproximadamente 20% do imposto na hora.

When I started to search for places to think about my trip to Uruguay, the village of Punta del Diablo called my attention as an alternative destination to Punta del Este.
And I got it right! Everything that Punta del Este has in luxury and glamor, Punta de Diablo has in simplicity, energy, beauty and slower pace. This small beach village is located on the northern coast of Uruguay, 298km from Montevideo and 43km from Chuí in Brazil and has a fixed population of approximately 823 inhabitants, mostly fishermen and artisans.
What to take…
I traveled in early November, it was not cold, but it was not hot either. Temperatures ranged from 15 to 26 degrees Celsius on average. One thing to take into consideration is that there is a lot of wind and this makes the thermal sensation lower especially at night, so taking some kind of windbreaker is a good one.
Two things that I missed and would like to take on a next car trip to Punta del Diablo, would be my surf board (you can rent it there) and my mountain bike.
About photography equipment, what can not miss is the camera with an overall lens as a 24-70mm or 18-55mm depending on the type of camera you have and a small tele to capture landscape details. For those who have I would definitely take a ND filter a tripod and a remote control to capture long exposures during the day, the beaches are full of rocks and it is amazing for that type of photography.
If you intend to surf, do not forget the wetsuit, cold water wax and your surfboard. If you do not take your board, it is possible to rent surfboards for experienced surfers or beginners, contact Rodrigo (+598 99 677 599), a local surfer I met there who teaches surfing and rents boards.

The bus from Rutas del Sol seems a bus line, it stops the whole trip, the advantage is that it enters inside Punta del Diablo and stops at a bus stop in the center near the beach of Viuda and Pescadores. What to do…
As it was the first week of November and during the week the village was very empty, several restaurants were closed or making small renovations for the season that was coming. At that time there was nothing to do at night, but in season the place should be quite fun.
Because I like quiet places for me it was great. The beaches were always empty, and this allowed me a better connection with the nature and energy of the place. Be sure to see the sunset at Playa de la Viuda and to go to Playa Grande, it is a bit far from the village but worth both the way to get to it as the beach itself.
For those who surf, if the wind allows, you will find good waves without crowd on the beaches del Rivero, La Viuda and Grande. If you have a car, it is worth checking the 4 beaches of Santa Teresa National Park. The park is about 10km north of Punta del Diablo and has an area of 3000 hectares, a good camping area and more than 60km of trails, in addition, the fortress of Santa Teresa which is the park’s postcard.
Photography…
Photographers who enjoy long exposure will have fun, the path to Playa Grande has several rock formations and some small beaches surrounded by rocks, the place is very beautiful and allows to create various types of compositions.
The sunrise on Playa del Rivero is gorgeous, you can frame as foreground the end of the dunes, it gives you a cool sand texture with the early morning light. Already the sunset you can shot from any beach but the place that I found most cool was the rocky left corner of the Playa de la Viuda, frame as foreground the rocks, the sea and then the dunes in the background.
Where to stay…
Punta del Diablo has countless accommodations to suit all tastes, from hotels to inns, hotels and campsites. I stayed at the Villa Lavanda inn which is located about 100m from the del Rivero beach. It is a very charming in, it has wifi, air conditioning … at that time I paid US$52 per night in the double room with breakfast included.
Important Tips …
– There is no money exchange office in Punta del Diablo, so come with money exchanged.
– If you pays with credit card in the restaurants, it discounted approximately 20% of the hourly tax on the bill.
